We proudly support students who meet or exceed classroom standards and seek financial assistance. Scholarships are awarded based on their academic achievements or a combination of academics, special talent, interest or financial need.

Amy Dillman Black Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Amy Dillman Black, CGHS Class of 1999, who as an outstanding student, class president and Debtone. This scholarship is awarded to a student who is pursuing a degree in nursing. It is funded primarily by family, friends, and the annual run in Amy’s memory.

Brittany Cottingham Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship fund has been established in memory of Brittany Cottingham. Upon graduating from Center Grove in 2007, Brittany was Purdue bound to pursue her dream of studying Kinesiology. Unfortunately, at the height of her career, Brittany was diagnosed with cervical cancer and lost her battle in 2021. Brittany’s family and friends would like to honor her life by offering a scholarship to those Center Grove students who will be attending Purdue University. Preference may be given to those students majoring in Health and Human Sciences.

Center Grove Alumni and Friends Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a qualified Center Grove senior. Grades, school activities and community service will be considered. Preference will be given to a student with a family member who is a Center Grove alumnus (parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle).

Center Grove High School Band Boosters Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has been active in the Center Grove Band and has shown leadership qualities in the band. It is funded by the Band Boosters and phonothon donations.

Center Grove Scholarship Foundation Award of Excellence Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to qualified seniors. These scholarships primarily take into consideration grades, school activities, and community service. Funds for these scholarships are generated through the annual spring phonothon.

Center Grove Optimists Club/Lee Webb Scholarship

This is awarded to a student who exhibits integrity and the leadership qualities of Dr. Lee Webb, former Superintendent of Schools at Center Grove. Priority is given to students planning a career in education. It is funded by the Center Grove Optimists Club and private donations.

Christian “Binky” Nikou Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund has been established in memory of Christian “Binky” Nikou, a Center Grove High School alumnus from the Class of 2006. While at Center Grove, Binky was a member of an All-State Doubles Team in 2002, and was an All-State Singles performer in 2004, and 2005, when he was the Singles State Champion. Selection criteria for this scholarship is still being finalized.

Dale and Carol Tumey Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by Dale and Carol Tumey to an outstanding senior female student who will be attending an accredited four year college. The scholarship is privately funded.

Danner Family Perfect Attendance Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a CGHS student who has attained perfect attendance in grades 1-12 with at least 10 years in the Center Grove Community Schools (no days tardy and no early dismissals).The student must also meet CGSF standards plan to attend a North Central accredited Indiana college or university. In case of a tie, GPA will be considered.

David A. Hicks Memorial Scholarship

This award honors David Hicks, a founding member of CGEF, well known for his involvement in many youth activities, especially Junior Achievement of Johnson County. Criteria include exemplary community service and school activities involvement. It is funded through contributions made through the phonothon.

Denney French History Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to study history education or a related area. It honors the memory of Denney French, a Superintendent of Schools at Center Grove who loved the challenge of history. It is privately funded.

Flynn Family Music Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a Center Grove senior planning on pursuing any music major in college. Criteria include 2 years of minimum participation in any music activity or group or theatre activity while at CGHS, acceptance into an accredited college or university, as well as fulfilling the remaining CGSF requirements. It is funded by the Flynn family.

Friends Forever Scholarship

This scholarship honors the memory of three CG graduates, Joseph Alexander, Nicolas Habicht, and Jacob Surface, who died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a house fire while attending IU in May 2004. It is awarded to a senior attending IU-Bloomington, who possesses a positive attitude, has drive and determination for a successful future, and is involved in extracurriculars. It’s funded by a Friends Forever Memorial August golf outing. Nic’s sister, Malia Casper, teaches first grade at CGES.

Jarrod Tyler Polston Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a CG student who played 4 years of football at CG, has a 3.0 GPA, and has been accepted to an accredited college with preference for IU-Bloomington. Jarrod, a kindhearted young man who loved his friends and family, was pursuing Biochemistry/pre-med. One of his proudest moments was on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium when CG won the 2008 State Championship. He loved football, his teammates, & football family. Funding is provided by phonothon contributions and Jarrod’s family.

Jean Allen Robertson Memorial Scholarship

This $2,000 scholarship honors Jean Allen Robertson, dedicated CGHS English and social studies teacher 1956-1975 and longtime White River Township resident and parent. Highly qualified students entering the field of education will be given priority for this award, however, other outstanding students pursuing the areas of music, counseling, or social studies will be considered. All applicants must be planning to attend an Indiana public (state) university. Academic performance, activity participation, leadership, financial need and student motivation will be the criteria for the selection process

Johnson County Community Foundation Endowment Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student who meets the CGSF standards and has especially been active in school and community activities. It is funded through the proceeds of the CGSF endowment with the JCCF.

Joyce Hall Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is planning on entering the field of education.  Joyce Hall was a long time member of the CGCSC school board at a time of explosive growth in the district. Many of the programs and buildings one sees today are a result of Joyce’s activism. Joyce was devoted to the school community and the success of all students. Criteria include meeting all of the CGSF requirements including acceptance into an accredited college. The scholarship is funded through donations from family and friends.

Judith A. Meeks Choral Music Scholarship

This scholarship is in honor and memory of Judith A. Meeks, founder and longtime director of CG’s award-winning choral groups. Criteria include CGSF standards, membership in CG performing choirs, and the intention of studying vocal performance, vocal music education, or musical theatre in college. Funded by CGHS Choir Parents Organization and phonothon donations.

Julie Johnson Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is in memory of Julie (Eck) Johnson, who provided years of speech-language therapy services to students across the Center Grove School District.  She was dedicated to the goal of helping her students communicate and have a voice.  She impacted many lives with her smile and compassion.  Julie’s determination to overcome health obstacles and her commitment to helping students overcome communication and learning obstacles was inspiring. This scholarship is intended to extend Julie’s fight to help others overcome barriers and challenges.  It will be awarded to a student who has shown determination to overcome challenges.

Kenzie Susanne Holubar Memorial Scholarship

This privately funded scholarship is in memory of Kenzie Susanne Holubar, infant daughter of Bart and Angie Holubar, sister to Avery, Ajay, Brody, & Brevin. She was born and passed away on June 16, 2015. It is awarded to a senior with a minimum 3.6 GPA who participated in school activities and will attend college in Indiana or Michigan.

Leslie Cook Dickerson Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Leslie Cook Dickerson who died tragically in April of 2003 at the age of 25. Leslie was a member of the CGHS Class of 1996. The scholarship is awarded to a senior planning on pursuing studies in the medical field since Leslie was studying to be a dental hygienist. It is privately funded.

Newport Family Robotics Scholarship

This $1,000 minimum scholarship is awarded to a senior who has been an active participant in the Robotics program while at Center Grove High School, especially during senior year. Applicants must also meet all CGSF criteria. It is privately funded by the Newport family.

Pamela L. Todd Memorial Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a CGHS student who meets the CGSF standards and will be attending an accredited college. Applicants should be active in CGHS athletics and other activities. Funding is provided by private contributions, especially from Texas Roadhouse, and her family.

Rachael Hope Valentine Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Rachael Hope Valentine who died in an auto accident in January of 1993 when she was a freshman member of the Class of 1996 at CGI-IS. The scholarship is awarded to a senior who is active in school activities, is a good student, and plans to attend a four-year accredited non-church-related college. It is funded through donations.

Russ Milligan Memorial Scholarship

Russ taught chemistry at Center Grove high School for 31 years and was the varsity girls softball coach for 27 years. He will forever be remembered for his love of teaching and his love of high school athletics.

Sandra J. Hillman Early College Scholarship

This scholarship honors long-time CGHS Assistant Principal Sandra Hillman, an advocate of the Early College Program. Applicants must meet all of the CGSF criteria as well as have graduated from the Early College Program. It is funded by CGHS staff, families and phonothon contributions.

Sheila Hunter Crump Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Sheila Hunter Crump, a Center Grove Alumni, Class of ’81, and a retired Center Grove employee whose career was dedicated to improving the lives of students with disabilities. The selection criteria for this scholarship is still being finalized.

Spradlin Family Memorial Scholarship

The Spradlin Family Memorial Scholarship was established by Terry Spradlin in 2009 in recognition and honor of his late wife, Kerry Beth (Wilt) Spradlin. Kerry passed away on February 20, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kerry had a prestigious career in public service and was honored as a Distinguished Hoosier by Governor Daniels and recognized by the Indiana House of Representatives and the Indianapolis City-County Council for her life's achievements.

Stephen McClure Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Stephen "Steve " R. McClure. Steve served as an announcer with The Center Grove Sports Network. Preference will be given to a student who plans to study Sports Communication.

Vandy and Margaret Vandemeer Scholarship

This scholarship is given by Vandy’s kids and the CGHS Class of 1965 in memory of Melvin “Vandy” Vandermeer, a former beloved principal at CGHS, and Margaret, a foreign languages teacher at CGHS. Along with the completed application, candidates should provide two letters of recommendation from CGHS teachers and plan to major in engineering, physics or mathematics at Purdue University. Successful candidates will demonstrate academic excellence, significant participation in non-academic activities, and outstanding moral character. It is funded by private donations from friends and their son, Bill Vandemeer.

Zachary Scott Schafer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in honor of Zachary Scott Schafer, Class of 1989, a champion pole vaulter and star swimmer at CGHS, and a good, kind friend to many. This is awarded to an average or better student who exhibits Zach’s qualities. It is privately funded by his family.
