Students in English 9 and Advanced Nutrition experienced an in-house field trip to Karen Gerhart's "Pasta and Performance" thanks to a grant from the Center Grove Education Foundation. Romeo and Juliet is one of the hardest units of the year for freshmen. By allowing students to "taste" the Verona culture, which is where Romeo and Juliet took place, and act out scene performances, students can better connect to the text.
A professional development grant from the Center Grove Education Foundation allowed Center Grove MS Central math teachers Paula Hornsby Boas, Erin Stanley Stout, and Debby Mesch Burton to attend MathCamp for Middle School Educators at Columbia University.
The Trojan Cafe is an educational and fun experience for students in the Transitional Academics Program at MSC. Almost every other Friday, the classroom is transformed into a coffee shop. While the students enjoy the break in the normal classroom routine, they are developing many different job skills such as customer service, counting money and making change, being a team player and communicating with co-workers, employer, and customers.
